In an official statement, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced on Tuesday the issuance of a certificate of accreditation to the Aerodrome Emergency Training School at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria. This accreditation certifies NCAT as a recognized provider of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) training in Nigeria.

The ceremony, held at NCAA’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, aligns with Acting Director General Capt. Chris Najomo’s emphasis on facilitating business while maintaining rigorous standards and safety protocols.

According to the NCAA, this is the first time ARFF training accreditation has been conducted within Nigeria, a milestone expected to elevate safety and standardization within the aviation industry. NCAA highlighted several anticipated benefits: improved industry safety standards, enhanced regulatory compliance, and strengthened global recognition for the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology. The accreditation is also expected to drive increased enrollment, attract foreign exchange, improve eligibility for funding, and gain acknowledgment from both domestic and international aviation stakeholders.

Acting Rector of NCAT, Mr. Joseph Imalighwe, expressed gratitude to the Ag. DGCA for his effective oversight and leadership, assuring the NCAA of NCAT’s commitment to maintaining the high standards that the accreditation represents.
