The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Ekiti State Government have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to guarantee the smooth and efficient operation of the newly established Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti. The agreement, signed at NAMA’s headquarters annex at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, marks a significant step towards ensuring the airport’s successful takeoff and ongoing operations.
In his remarks during the signing ceremony, NAMA’s Managing Director, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, represented by the Director of Legal Services and Company Secretary, Mrs. Rita Egbadon, emphasized that the MOU is more than a contractual agreement; it symbolizes a shared vision and a mutual commitment to delivering exceptional air traffic control services. Engr. Farouk noted that the partnership between NAMA and the Ekiti State Government would set a foundation for collaboration that prioritizes customer satisfaction, safety, and the success of the airport project.

Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, who represented the state’s governor at the event, expressed optimism about the airport’s potential to enhance tourism, facilitate safer and more efficient air travel, and contribute significantly to the economic growth and job creation in Ekiti State. She underscored the importance of the MOU in advancing the development of aviation infrastructure and services in Nigeria.
“The primary goal of this MOU is to foster a collaborative partnership that will lead to effective air traffic management systems and ensure the highest safety standards for all airspace users,” Dr. Adubiaro stated. “We are committed to leveraging NAMA’s expertise and resources to achieve these goals, and our collaboration will be guided by mutual respect and transparency.”
The Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, which is nearing full operation, is expected to play a crucial role in boosting the state’s economy by improving connectivity and supporting the agro-allied sector.
