Green Africa has taken delivery of its second owned aircraft, strengthening its fleet and underscoring its long-term growth ambitions in Nigeria’s domestic aviation market.

The Lagos-based value airline announced that the newly acquired aircraft, an ATR 72-600 with manufacturer’s serial number 1064 and registration mark 5N-GAC, will boost capacity across its existing route network. The aircraft is expected to enter commercial service shortly, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

As with its first aircraft purchase, the acquisition was partly funded through a naira-denominated debt facility provided by Access Bank, deepening the strategic fleet-financing partnership between both organisations.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Green Africa, Babawande Afolabi, described the delivery as another critical milestone in building a sustainable airline.

“We are delighted to welcome our second owned aircraft, 5N-GAC, into the Green Africa fleet. This addition strengthens the foundation for our growth and supports our commitment to provide safe, reliable and affordable air travel to more customers across Nigeria and, in time, the wider African continent,” Afolabi said.

Also commenting, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Roosevelt Ogbonna, reaffirmed the bank’s support for businesses driving economic transformation.

“At Access Bank, we are committed to empowering enterprises that create long-term value and drive economic progress. Our continued partnership with Green Africa reflects our confidence in its vision and execution,” Ogbonna said.

“Following the strong performance of the first aircraft acquisition, we are pleased to support this second purchase, which will expand capacity and accelerate the airline’s growth. We remain focused on providing innovative financial solutions that help African businesses scale and contribute meaningfully to development.”

With the addition of 5N-GAC, Green Africa continues to strengthen its operational base and advance its mission of making air travel more accessible, efficient and sustainable across Nigeria, while laying the groundwork for future regional expansion.
