The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured Nigerians of a smooth and secure travel experience through the nation’s airports during the upcoming Salah festive season.
The Authority said it has implemented a series of upgrades to its security apparatus to ensure the safety of both life and property for the travelling public.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, FAAN urged all travelers to arrive at the airport well in advance to avoid missing their flights and to help reduce congestion.
Specifically, international travellers are advised to be at the airport three hours before their departure time, while local travellers should arrive about two hours before their scheduled flight.
Travellers are also reminded to pack their luggage personally and to avoid leaving their belongings unattended.
The Authority said it has expanded the screening areas to enhance the flying experience, and passengers are advised to keep a close eye on their valuables during the screening process.
Proper parking is emphasised, with FAAN cautioning that improperly parked vehicles will be towed. The Authority also warned against engaging the services of touts.
At a recent event, FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, issued a stern warning to all staff and government agencies operating at the airports, emphasising that any culpable individuals will face strict punishment.
Hence, the agency advised travellers not to offer bribes or engage in any form of extortion.
Passengers are also reminded to adhere to rules and regulations concerning the carriage of prohibited articles, liquids, and gels.
Furthermore, the agency encouraged travellers to approach information desks available at all airports for their inquiries and needs.
FAAN wishes everyone a happy holiday and encourages travellers to utilize the available resources for a safe and pleasant journey.
