The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has responded to concerns raised by aviation unions regarding airport concessions and salary reviews, following a recent publication by Sahara Reporters titled “Aviation Unions Issue 14-Day Ultimatum to Federal Government of Nigeria Over Concessions and Salary Review.”
During a workers’ congress held on last week Tuesday, aviation unions expressed dissatisfaction over their exclusion from the ongoing airport concession committee deliberations. They also raised concerns about delays in implementing the negotiated consequential adjustment of the new minimum wage for FAAN staff.
Addressing these grievances, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, met with union representatives in Lagos on Friday. In response, he directed the immediate inclusion of union representatives in the concession committee to ensure transparency and provide them with full access to information regarding the process.
Additionally, the minister assured the unions of his commitment to expediting the implementation of the new salary review for FAAN staff.
FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to upholding its core values and maintaining constructive dialogue with aviation unions to resolve industrial concerns amicably. The agency emphasized its dedication to providing world-class airport services in line with global best practices, assuring the public of continued efficiency in airport operations.
