Ethiopian Aviation University has graduated 457 aviation professionals from 12 countries, reinforcing its position as Africa’s largest aviation centre of excellence. The graduation ceremony, which marked the completion of training across key aviation disciplines, was held at the university’s facility on January 17, 2026.
The graduates completed programmes in Pilot Training, Aircraft Maintenance Training and Cabin Crew Training. The cohort comprised 58 pilots, 115 aircraft maintenance technicians and 284 cabin crew members, all set to begin their careers in the global aviation industry.
Reflecting the institution’s growing international reach, the graduating class included trainees from Ethiopia, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Italy, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Yemen, highlighting the university’s increasingly multicultural learning environment.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer, Mesfin Tasew, described the university as a critical pillar of the airline’s long-standing success. He noted that the institution has, for decades, produced the skilled professionals who support Ethiopian Airlines’ operations, while also contributing to the wider global aviation workforce.
Tasew said the graduation underscored the airline’s commitment to sharing its expertise beyond Ethiopia, adding that the newly graduated professionals represent the next generation of aviation leaders. He emphasised that the university remains proud to play a role in shaping the future of the industry through the training of world-class aviators and specialists.
Ethiopian Aviation University continues to expand its academic offerings, delivering short-term and medium-term professional courses alongside undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The institution maintains its focus on developing highly qualified aviation professionals through modern training facilities, industry-aligned curricula and strong partnerships within the aviation sector.
