Commercial Aviation ended the year with a $10.2 billion backlog, up 15% year-on-year despite an 8% decline quarter-on-quarter due to high aircraft deliveries. The segment delivered 31 aircraft in the last quarter and 73 in total for 2024, meeting revised estimates. Luxair formalized an order for two E195-E2s, bringing its total order to six, while Embraer’s E2 and E1-175 jets secured 179 and 164 firm orders, respectively. The company also continued efforts to stabilize production output, a key initiative for 2025.
Executive Aviation achieved a record $7.4 billion backlog, up 70% year-on-year and 67% quarter-on-quarter, driven by a marquee contract with Flexjet for 182 firm orders and up to 30 additional options. The business unit delivered 44 jets in Q4 and 130 for the full year, reaching a 14-year high. The Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 accounted for half of the segment’s Q4 deliveries, while the Phenom 300 remained the best-selling model in its category for the 12th consecutive year. The company successfully leveled production, reducing the traditional year-end delivery spike from 45% to 34% of total annual output.
Services & Support reached a $4.6 billion backlog, up 50% year-on-year and 30% quarter-on-quarter, supported by long-term contracts with Flexjet, Air Serbia, LOT Polish Airlines, and CommuteAir. These agreements expanded fleet maintenance services under the Pool and Part Exchange Plus Programs, while additional contributions from spares, technical publications, training, and modifications strengthened results.
Defense & Security saw its backlog grow to $4.2 billion, a 67% year-on-year and 15% quarter-on-quarter increase, bolstered by new orders for four C-390 Millennium and ten A-29 Super Tucano aircraft. Embraer secured firm contracts with the Czech Ministry of Defense and an undisclosed client for two C-390 Millennium aircraft each, while Slovakia and Sweden selected the aircraft but have yet to finalize contracts. The business unit also signed agreements for six A-29 Super Tucanos with an undisclosed buyer and four additional units for an African client. The Portuguese Air Force became the launch customer for the NATO version with a 12-aircraft order, though the contract was not finalized in 2024, while the Uruguayan Air Force confirmed five additional options in early 2025.
Embraer remains focused on optimizing production and strengthening supply chain efficiency as it continues to build on its record-breaking performance.
