Inspired by the raw beauty, vibrant culture, and relaxed spirit of Cape Town, Morea House, Autograph Collection, has opened its doors in Camps Bay as the newest addition to Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of distinctive independent hotels. The 90-room seaside retreat sits along one of Cape Town’s most iconic coastlines, framed by the turquoise Atlantic Ocean and the dramatic Twelve Apostles, with palm-lined promenades, sunlit beaches, and lively cafés and boutiques creating an effortless blend of tranquillity and urban energy.
Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Vice President, Premium, Select & Midscale Brands for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Marriott International, said the hotel encapsulates the soul of Cape Town through its architecture, interiors, and sweeping natural vistas, offering guests a place to pause, explore, and connect with the Mother City.
Designed by award-winning interior architect Tristan du Plessis, Morea House draws inspiration from its surroundings, balancing sculptural boldness with soft, organic textures. Timber, stone, and bronze hues come together with bespoke furnishings and tactile details across the guestrooms and suites, each shaped by views of the mountains, ocean, or sand. The property’s public spaces unfold as immersive sensory moments, from its expansive terraces to intimate art-filled corners that honour Cape Town’s contemporary creativity and deep heritage.
General Manager Albert Smit said the hotel was envisioned as a sanctuary crafted for personal renewal, connection, and discovery, whether guests are seeking romance, rest, or a base for exploring the region’s beaches, vineyards, and mountains.
Culinary experiences are central to the Morea House journey, beginning with OMRI, a modern Lebanese restaurant influenced by South Africa’s coastal flavours and regional ingredients, offering relaxed dining across a beach-facing terrace and warmly inviting indoor bar.
The Morea House Pool Restaurant embodies refined coastal living with fresh, seasonal dishes enjoyed poolside with panoramic ocean views, evolving into a golden-hour gathering spot at sunset. Guests can also find quiet escape in The Courtyard or savour intimate tastings and celebrations in The Wine Room.
Wellness is woven into every element of the property, from daily rituals to curated outdoor activities that embrace Cape Town’s natural rhythm. Guests can enjoy sunrise yoga, mountain hikes, coastal walks, poolside relaxation, or the signature guided cold-water immersion in the Atlantic, a transformative sensory experience rooted in nature. The Spa offers holistic, multi-sensory treatments designed for deep restoration, including the Morea Elemental Flow massage infused with aromatic fynbos oils and the Morea Ocean Radiance ritual combining a thermal circuit, flowing bodywork, and sound therapy for full-body rejuvenation.
