Air Sierra Leone has entered into a significant interline agreement with Hahn Air, a global leader in ticketing and distribution partnerships, marking a major step in the airline’s global expansion strategy.

The partnership enables travel agents worldwide to issue Air Sierra Leone tickets using Hahn Air’s insolvency-protected HR-169 ticket platform under the airline’s 6L code. This integration allows bookings via leading Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport, vastly improving the airline’s global accessibility.

In a statement issued by Augustine Bona, Head of Media, Communications & Public Relations, the airline said the agreement represents a milestone in its efforts to connect Sierra Leone to key global markets.

“With this interline agreement, Air Sierra Leone becomes more accessible to travel professionals globally. It ensures bookings can be made seamlessly through trusted platforms, expanding our sales reach,” Bona said.

Sukh Mann, Group Chief Operating Officer of Air Sierra Leone, emphasized the deal’s importance to the airline’s regional and international ambitions. “This partnership significantly boosts our market access. Travel agents globally can now confidently book our flights without needing direct backend integration,” he stated.

Launched in September 2024, Air Sierra Leone operates scheduled international flights from its base in Freetown. Its flagship routes include Freetown–London, served by a Boeing 737 MAX 8, and Freetown–Lagos, operated with an Embraer 145 aircraft. The airline has announced plans to add new routes soon as part of its broader expansion goals.

Mann noted that joining Hahn Air’s network of over 350 airline partners offers not only expanded booking options but also enhances the airline’s international credibility and visibility. “This is a game-changer for us. It simplifies how agents can work with us and gives customers worldwide more confidence in booking travel to and from Sierra Leone,” he added.

Industry experts say interline agreements such as this are vital for newer airlines seeking global exposure without the need for heavy infrastructure investments. It allows for seamless ticketing and better connectivity for passengers embarking on multi-leg journeys involving West Africa.

The deal also highlights Hahn Air’s role in providing efficient distribution solutions for emerging airlines. The partnership is expected to accelerate Air Sierra Leone’s long-term plan of becoming a major connector between West Africa and global destinations.
