Air Peace has strongly denied reports of panic during a recent flight from Akure to Abuja, following claims that a cracked windshield caused alarm among passengers. The airline emphasized that the flight operated normally, with no safety concerns, dismissing the rumors as false.

In an official statement, Air Peace clarified that the issue involved a minor crack on the outer layer of the First Officer’s windshield, discovered during routine in-flight checks. The airline confirmed that the crack was limited to the outer layer, and at no point was the safety of passengers or crew compromised. “The flight from Akure to Abuja operated smoothly, and the aircraft landed safely at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport without any incident,” the statement read.

Upon landing, the cockpit crew performed their standard post-flight checks, reported the crack, and the airline’s engineering team immediately began repairs. The windshield was replaced promptly, and the aircraft returned to service.

Air Peace expressed disappointment over what it described as an attempt to damage the airline’s reputation through misinformation. “It is both irresponsible and unacceptable to spread falsehoods about a flight that experienced no unsafe event. Such reports mislead the public and undermine the efforts of an airline committed to upholding the highest safety standards,” the airline stated.

However, conflicting reports had surfaced earlier, with some media outlets alleging that the windshield “shattered” upon landing, causing panic among passengers, including human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore, who was on board. These reports suggested that the crew did not inform passengers of the incident, leading to industry-wide concern.

In response, Air Peace insisted that there was no shattering, only a crack that was swiftly addressed. A source from the airline confirmed, “It was a minor crack that was detected and repaired immediately. We replaced the affected windshield, and the aircraft has since operated multiple flights without issue.”

Air Peace assured the public that it operates in full compliance with safety regulations and places passenger safety above all else. “We have built our operations on trust, and we will never jeopardize the safety of our passengers. We urge the public to disregard false reports aimed at discrediting the airline,” the statement concluded.

Despite the initial panic caused by the rumors, the airline reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and ensuring transparency in all its operations.
