An Air Peace flight operating as P47190 from Lagos to Port Harcourt experienced a runway excursion after landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Saturday, June 13, 2025. The aircraft, a Boeing 737, veered slightly off the runway during the landing process, but fortunately, all passengers disembarked safely and without injury.

According to Air Peace spokesperson Osifo-Whiskey Efe, the aircraft sustained no damage, and the situation was handled swiftly and professionally by the flight crew and ground staff.

The flight had departed Lagos early in the morning and was attempting to land on Runway 22 when the incident occurred. Passengers described the moment as unsettling but commended the crew’s calm response and quick adherence to emergency protocols. The airline assured the public of its unwavering commitment to safety and noted that all operational procedures were followed. Emergency teams at the airport responded promptly, helping to ensure a smooth evacuation.

While the cause of the excursion remains under investigation, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) are expected to review the incident, as is standard practice in aviation safety oversight. Weather conditions, technical factors, and the state of the runway infrastructure will likely be examined as part of the investigation. This incident follows a similar runway excursion in December 2024 involving a cargo aircraft at Abuja airport, highlighting the importance of continuous safety monitoring in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Air Peace reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and expressed appreciation to the Port Harcourt emergency teams for their quick and coordinated response.
