Ibom Air has carried its five millionth passenger, reaching the milestone seven years after the Akwa Ibom State-owned airline began commercial operations.
The landmark was recorded on September 25, 2026, during the carrier’s 65,787th scheduled commercial flight, according to a statement by its Group Manager, Marketing and Communications, Aniekan Essienette.
The airline said the milestone reflected sustained passenger patronage and the growth of its operations since it commenced flights, with continued expansion of its network and services contributing to the increase in traffic.
Essienette attributed the achievement to the confidence of passengers, the commitment of Ibom Air employees and the support of its stakeholders.
She said the five-million passenger mark reinforced the airline’s focus on providing safe, reliable and customer-focused air transport services across its network.
Ibom Air said it would continue to focus on improving connectivity, maintaining schedule reliability and strengthening on-time departures and customer service as it expands its operations.
The five-million passenger milestone represents another significant point in the development of the state-owned carrier, which has continued to build its presence in Nigeria’s domestic aviation market since launching commercial services seven years ago.
