As Nigeria gears up for the busy December travel season, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has met with ground handling companies operating across all FAAN-managed airports to review operational readiness and strengthen collaboration ahead of the anticipated passenger surge.

The strategic session, held on November 4, 2025, at FAAN headquarters, focused on assessing manpower capacity, equipment efficiency, and contingency planning to ensure seamless, safe, and efficient airport operations throughout the festive period.

Mrs. Kuku emphasized that the meeting was part of FAAN’s proactive measures to maintain service excellence during the “Detty December” travel peak, a time traditionally marked by heavy passenger traffic across Nigeria’s airports.

“This engagement is about aligning all stakeholders toward one shared objective — ensuring a smooth, safe, and satisfying airport experience for every passenger,” she said. “Operational preparedness, safety, and collaboration are non-negotiable as we approach one of the busiest travel periods of the year.”

The FAAN boss reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to sustaining high performance standards through teamwork and continuous improvement, noting that effective coordination between FAAN and its partners is essential to maintaining efficiency and public confidence in airport operations.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to evaluate emergency response systems and collaborative frameworks designed to handle possible disruptions associated with increased flight and passenger volumes.

Industry operators commended FAAN’s leadership for fostering an inclusive, forward-thinking approach that strengthens stakeholder relationships and enhances overall service delivery.

FAAN reiterated that such engagements will remain integral to its operational strategy — ensuring safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across all airports under its management.
