The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has matriculated 200 students into its 2024/2025 academic session, reaffirming its commitment to developing world-class aviation professionals. The newly admitted students were enrolled in the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)-accredited Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes under the School of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) and the School of Aeronautical Telecommunications Engineering (ATE).
During the matriculation ceremony, NCAT Rector, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, officially opened the academic session and welcomed the students, emphasizing that aviation education demands focus, dedication, and discipline. He highlighted the rigorous nature of aviation training, pointing out that the pass mark for aviation examinations is set at 75%, a reflection of the global standards the institution upholds.
“You are here to build a career that meets international benchmarks. That requires hard work, sacrifice, and a strong character. Stay focused and steer clear of all distractions and social vices,” Dr. Ismaila cautioned.
He encouraged students to be punctual, participate fully in both theoretical and practical sessions, and abide by all academic guidelines. He warned against exam malpractice, drug abuse, and other forms of misconduct, reiterating that integrity and professionalism are essential traits for successful aviation careers.
Dr. Ismaila assured parents and guardians that the safety and welfare of the students remain top priorities for NCAT. He noted that the institution continually upgrades its facilities to maintain a secure and conducive learning environment.
Representatives from other institutions in Zaria, including the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), and the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), were also present to witness the ceremony.
NCAT, widely regarded as Nigeria’s premier aviation training college, has over the years produced licensed engineers, technicians, flight dispatchers, and air traffic controllers, reducing the nation’s reliance on foreign expertise. The college boasts state-of-the-art workshops, avionics laboratories, and aircraft simulators, providing students with hands-on experience aligned with current industry standards.
Attracting students from across West and Central Africa, NCAT continues to uphold its reputation as a center of aviation excellence. With its affiliation to global aviation bodies, the institution ensures its curriculum remains updated with evolving technologies and international best practices.
