The decision by President Bola Tinubu to retain Festus Keyamo as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development has been widely praised by key industry stakeholders, including the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and the Arewa Youth Leaders League (AYLL). AON President Alhaji Abdulmunaf Sarina commended Keyamo’s transformative impact, highlighting his dedication to safety, compliance with international standards, and bolstering Nigeria’s aviation rating from 40% to 80%.
The Arewa Youth Leaders League echoed this sentiment, noting Keyamo’s vision for a globally compliant aviation industry and his focus on transparency. Usman Attah, AYLL coordinator, credited Keyamo’s strategic reforms, such as the Cape Town Convention and the IDERA authorization, which moved Nigeria’s compliance rating from 49% to 70.5%, enhancing access to international aircraft leasing markets.
Both groups underscored Keyamo’s proactive engagement and commitment to infrastructure improvements, which have restored confidence and public trust in the aviation sector. They urged continued support for Keyamo to overcome remaining challenges, including flight delays and cancellations, aiming for a world-class aviation sector under his leadership.
