Four time African Footballer of the Year, Yaya Toure, came out on the morning of4th of November 2016 to apologise to Pep Guadiola and the management of Manchester City for misunderstandings from the past as he could no longer stand being on the sidelines. Toure offered the peace deal on his facebook page :
Please see my statement on the situation at Manchester City:
“I wish to apologise – on behalf of myself and those who represent me – to the management team and all those working at the club for the misunderstandings from the past.
“Those statements do not represent my views on the club or the people who work there.
“I have nothing but respect for Manchester City and only wish the best for the football club.
“I am immensely proud to have played a part in the club’s history and want to help City succeed further. I live to play football and entertain the fans.
“On that note, I would like to thank all of the fans for their messages through this difficult period. This means a great deal to me and my family.”
Guadiola told Toure in September that he will not be an active member of the team unless his agent Dimitri Seluk apologises for claiming that the Spaniard tactician had humiliated Toure by not including him in the Champions League squard.
A truce never seemed to be when Seluk replied Guadiola that he would never apologise except he (Guadiola) said sorry to Joe Hart for the way he was treated and sent on loan to Torino during this summer’s transfer window, and to former team manager, Manuel Pellegrini.
Before the victory over Barcelona in the Match-Day 4 Champions League tie, Guadiola refused to give an answer when asked about Seluk’s claim that he had tried to contact Guadiola but all efforts were futile. “No answer” was the Spaniard’s response.
Toure last kicked the ball for Manchester City in the second leg of City’s Champions League play-off at home to Steaua Bucharest on Aug 24 in which he came in as a second half substitute. That is the only time he has featured for the club this season.
Toure has appeared 267 times for City and scored 75 times since arriving from Barcelona.
