The headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos was earlier today engulfed by fire. Report has it that the fire affected some offices including the Audit, Communications and Engineering Departments.
In a statement signed by the Acting General Manager Corporate affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, it was confirmed that the incident did affect some offices and that the cause of the outbreak was being investigated.
This incident earlier affected the flow of traffic as motorists had a difficult time accessing the international wing of the airports. Warnings were also given to motorists to divert from the airport area at Mobalaji Bank Anthony Way.
The authority however assured travelers, airport users and the general public that the incident did not affect operations at the airport in any way as normal operations continue unhindered.
It was also confirmed in the statement that the fire department, in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire Department and other security agencies have responded swiftly by curtailing the spread of the fire and normalcy has been restored already.
